  • Date: April 29, 2026

We are delighted to announce that we have been named Charity of the Year for the 2026 Anglonordic Life Science Conference in London – a leading event in the lifsciences calendar bringing together experts in healthcare research innovation and investment.

The annual conference, which took place on 23rd April this year, connects more than 300 delegates from across the UK, Nordic region and Europe, including drug discovery companies, biotech innovators and high-quality investors. The event kicked off with a Reception at the Swedish Ambassador’s Residence in London the evening before, setting the tone for a dynamic programme and engaging discussions. On the day of the conference, panel talks, startup funding pitches, and one-to-one partnering all played an important role in advancing new ideas and international collaboration.

Through our partnerships with Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University of London, Barts Charity support ground-breaking research and healthcare innovation in East London and beyond. This includes initiatives such as the Barts Life Sciences Cluster, that bring together the NHS, academia and industry to turn discoveries into real benefits for our patients at a dedicated hub in East London. As one of the world’s most diverse communities, research carried out here generates insights that can improve how diseases are understood, diagnosed and treated not just locally, but worldwide.

As Charity of the Year at the Anglonordic Life Sciences Conference, we were able to raise the profile of this work and make important international connections that can help drive our initiatives forward.

Mary Clark, Chief Executive Officer, at Optimum Strategic Communications who organise the conference, said:

“We were very pleased to have Barts Charity join us as Charity of the Year at this year’s Anglonordic Life Science Conference. The conference exists to connect the European R&D companies developing new treatments to address areas of unmet medical need with leading investors across the industry. As strategic communications specialists, we see every day how progress depends not only on scientific excellence, but on the conversations and partnerships that help turn it into real-world impact. We support important charities focused on helping patients, and Barts Charity embodies that spirit.”

We look forward to working with partners across the global life sciences community to ensure that breakthroughs developed in East London can benefit patients locally and worldwide.
