What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is one of the simplest and most effective ways of giving to charity. It is a scheme introduced by HM Revenue & Customs which allows us to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate - as long as you pay at least that amount in tax and give The Charity permission to claim.
Why give Gift Aid?
At no extra cost to you, for every pound you give us, we can claim an extra 25p. For example if you give us £20 we can claim an extra £5 making your gift worth £25.
Gift Aid declaration
“Please treat this donation and all donations I make to Barts Charity from this date as Gift Aid donations. I am a UK taxpayer and will notify you if my circumstances change*”
*To qualify for Gift Aid you must pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April one year to 5 April the next) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that the Charity will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Other taxes, such as VAT and Council tax do not qualify.
