“Dad was a man who was driven to succeed and always had a goal in mind. He was brave, resilient, and powered through life’s knockbacks. He was a kind and loving husband, dad and dear friend, who was generous, had a great sense of humour, and was an inspiration to others.” – Nathan, Raymond’s son.

Raymond, whose incredible strength and kind soul touched the lives of all who knew him, spent approximately a decade under the care of St Bartholomew’s Hospital, receiving treatment for Lymphoma Cancer from the dedicated team in the Hematology department.

“The staff at St Bartholomew’s hospital certainly looked after Dad and gave him comfort seeing familiar friendly faces when having to visit or go there. They even nicknamed him Miracle Man as he often won his battles even against the greatest of odds!”
shared Nathan.

Raymond and his family

Raymond’s journey was marked by numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and two stem cell treatments, the latter of which involved a selfless donation from his daughter, Anna. Even though the treatments were successful and helped Raymond spend more time with his family, sadly, he passed away in 2023.

To celebrate his life, and to give back to St Bartholomew’s hospital his family set up a touching MuchLoved Tribute space, which has now raised over £8,500. The page not only brings Raymond’s friends and family comfort by keeping the memory of him alive, but also acts as a platform though which they can express their gratitude towards the efforts of St Bartholomew’s staff:

“We set up the tribute page as a way of keeping Dad's memory alive. It was incredible to see everyone's amazing stories and messages about Dad and we were absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone and how many people he had inspired.”

“As a family, including Dad, we were always so appreciative of the kindness and efforts of all the staff at Barts hospital so we were very keen to try and help in any way we could when fundraising. We hope to continue using it for various milestones and future fundraising events, said Nathan.
