Why East London needs the Breast Cancer Centre?

East London is also one of the most diverse communities in the world. This means the breakthroughs we make here through the Breast Cancer Centre have the potential to improve outcomes not just for local people, but for patients around the world.

Despite progress in breast cancer outcomes, people in East London and their families face some of the worst breast cancer survival rates in the country. Many are diagnosed younger, at a later stage of disease and with more aggressive cancers.

People also face significant health inequalities. High levels of deprivation, barriers to accessing healthcare and lower screening uptake all contribute to poorer breast cancer outcomes.

That’s why we’re here to improve breast cancer outcomes through the Breast Cancer Centre.
