Introducing Circulate: The Barts Charity heart health network

20 Nov 2015

Through Circulate, we seek to promote heart-healthy workplaces and save over 1,000 additional lives per year at the Barts Heart Centre.

Cardiovascular disease is Britain’s biggest killer, with significantly more heart-related deaths in East and Central London than the average for the country.

Through Circulate, we’re encouraging the support of the new Barts Heart Centre at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital – the largest specialist cardiac centre in Europe.

Many of the risks for cardiovascular disease can be limited by preventative measures and small changes in daily habits that can cumulatively add up to provide big health benefits.

For this reason, partners of the Circulate network, or 'Circulators', will have access to heart health education through a series of new engagement activities delivered in workplaces and other venues across the City of London, provided by clinical staff of the Barts Heart Centre.

As well as this, members will be helping to support and fund highly innovative projects and services in the centre that will save many more lives per year.

The launch event next Wednesday at Barts Great Hall, in the presence of HRH The Duke of Gloucester, President of Barts Hospital will welcome representatives from companies in the City of London to hear about the importance of looking after the heart health and wellbeing of employees while supporting one of the leading cardiac centres in the world.

Speakers will include former Tottenham football star Ossie Ardiles, as well as consultants from the heart centre.

Together we can fund world-leading cardiac health innovation and improve overall health and wellbeing in our capital.
