Football players spread the Christmas cheer

21 Dec 2015

Football players from Arsenal, Leyton Orient, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham all visited the children in our hospitals this Christmas.

Over the last week and a half, players from Leyton Orient, West Ham, Tottenham and Arsenal all visited patients at Whipps Cross, Newham and The Royal London hospitals.

The children’s days were brightened by the players spending time with them and handing out presents.

Hamera Elahi, Play Specialist on Forest Ward at Newham Hospital, said: “The visit was just the lift the children needed and really cheered everyone up. It’s always mayhem when the team come as many of the children are huge fans of their local club – as well as the staff!

“The team are fantastic sports coming back year after year to help make being in hospital over Christmas enjoyable for the children. Thank you!”

Players including Connor Essam from Leyton Orient, Andy Carroll from West Ham, Andros Townsend from Tottenham, and Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal all took time out of their training to visit the patients.

We’re hugely grateful to all involved at the football clubs for their ongoing support – we know it makes a huge difference to patients, and look forward to working with them again!
