Following a difficult year, Issy is really looking forward to seeing the smiles on her patients’ faces when they get their gifts this year. She’s urging you to support however you can to help bring some Christmas cheer to the hospitals.
“Christmas is a time for showing your love for others. I think gift-giving represents that, especially in hospital. When we hand out presents to our patients on Christmas Day it helps them feel valued and lets them share in the Christmas spirit, even if they can’t be with their loved ones.
I think all NHS staff are hoping for a really strong response to the Barts Charity appeal from the community this year. We’re in need of some Christmas spirit ourselves! During Covid-19, we have been challenged professionally and personally. We’ve had to work very long hours and we’ve been denied contact with our families for long periods of time.”
