Funke and her NHS colleagues have had an exhausting year saving lives from Covid-19. Now she reflects on the year and the positive impact the Christmas Gift Appeal will have for patients facing Christmas away from loved ones.
“Coronavirus has made 2020 a really difficult year for me professionally because I have had to work on the front-line in a worldwide pandemic. Every day I’ve been looking after patients who’ve been made very ill by the virus.
Christmas will bring us all some relief. I personally think it is important to give patients a present on Christmas day because it’s nice to give, especially at Christmas. And it’s an even nicer gesture to give to someone in hospital who would rather be spending Christmas with their family but can’t. Our patients are always pleased to know that we actually really care for them.”
We can only buy gifts for NHS staff like Funke to hand out on Christmas morning with your kind support. Donate today and help bring joy to East London’s patients and staff this Christmas.
