Louise: pub quiz superstar

28 Oct 2016

Louise has raised an amazing total of over £1,000 for the Breast Assessment Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital with her monthly pub quiz.

Since December of last year, Louise (pictured left) has been a running a pub quiz on the first Tuesday of every month at The Elderfield pub in Hackney.

On the 4th October, we got a team together and went to thank Louise for the fantastic amount of fundraising she has done and hold a cheque presentation for the astonishing £1,239.23 she has raised to date.

The team took part in the quiz themselves but, despite the fact that Louise offers clues for cash, still managed to come last…

Louise is one of the many people whose friends and family have been affected by breast cancer. In the UK roughly 150 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every day, making it the most prevalent form of cancer affecting people today.

Having known many people who have been assessed at the Breast Assessment Centre and a good friend who was treated at St Bartholomew’s, Louise started fundraising to support the centre and help her local community.

“We’re really grateful to Louise and all involved for their hard work,” said Tom, our Fundraising Administration Manager.

“It’s the friendliest pub quiz I’ve been to. We did come in last place, but despite that it was wonderful to be there for the cheque presentation. Louise is a natural born fundraiser and what she’s doing for the Breast Assessment Centre is amazing.”

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Louise for the amazing amount of work and commitment she has put into fundraising, as well as the landlords of The Elderfield – Steve and Joyce – and all those who donate prizes to the quiz.
