A warm welcome to our new Chairman and Chief Executive

05 May 2016

We’d like to welcome our new Chairman, Paul Rawlinson, and Chief Executive, Fiona Miller Smith.

Paul (pictured, left) was previously Deputy Chairman and began this new role at the start of May.

Fiona (pictured, right) is joining us from Social Finance Ltd – an organisation that partners with government, the social sector and the financial community to find better solutions to society’s most difficult problems – where she was Chief Operating Officer and led their social enterprise advisory business.

Speaking about joining the charity, Fiona said: "I am delighted to be joining Barts Charity: an organisation that has a powerful sense of history and a strong vision for the future. Its focus on funding innovation to improve patient care, medical research and education is compelling and has a positive impact on thousands of Londoners’ lives each year.

“The charity’s work builds on my experience at Social Finance which uses capital to fund innovation and achieve scale impact.

“I look forward continuing the great work that Andrew has done over the last nine years.”

Paul added: "Over my years as a Trustee I have seen what can be done when the great team at the charity and the Trustee group work together with Barts Health NHS Trust and the School of Medicine and Dentistry.

“Our aim is to build a closer partnership with colleagues to bring our experience, financial prudence and fundraising capability to help them deliver better outcomes for patients at a time when the NHS is under immense pressure."

We’re looking forward to working with Paul and Fiona in our next chapter, and to continue pursuing extraordinary healthcare for patients in the hospitals we support.
