Lee Tunnel team fantastic fundraising

02 Feb 2016

The Lee Tunnel Delivery Team rounded up their amazing year of fundraising in 2015 by presenting a cheque to staff of Rainbow Children’s Ward at Newham Hospital this week.

The team – led by Jane Lees and Vanessa Hilton – chose us as their charity of the year for 2015, aiming to raise £5,000 for the Rainbow Children’s Centre.

Their efforts throughout the year – including a team of runners taking part in July’s Great Newham Run, an Easter raffle, a bake off, charity boxes and a quiz night – were matched by donations from the joint venture partners, helping them to smash their target, raising over £10,000 – a fantastic effort.

This total will make a wonderful difference to patients, families and staff – supporting projects beyond the capacity of the NHS.

“It was a real pleasure to be able to hand over £10,000 to such a worthy cause,” said Francois, Project Director at Vinci Construction, part of the team who supported the fundraising. “We hope it makes a difference to the staff, children and parents who have so much to cope with.”

The Lee Tunnel Team were working on the new storage and transfer tunnel from Beckton Sewage Treatment Works to Abbey Mills Pumping Station. They wanted to give something back to the local area, and so chose to support us and benefit patients in Newham.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Lee Tunnel who gave so generously and to the joint venture partners – Thames Water, Vinci Construction Grands Projets, CH2M, Morgan Sindall and Bachy Soletanche – for their incredible support.
