*** Clinical Research Training (CRT) Fellowship Schemes - OPEN ***

DEADLINE: FRIDAY 31st MAY 2013, 5pm

There are TWO schemes available, as follows:

SCHEME A

  • This pump priming scheme is open to medically qualified trainees with no existing funding, to allow them to develop sufficient preliminary data to apply for Clinical Research Training Fellowships, ideally from the MRC / Wellcome Trust.
  • The Charity will underwrite a second year, provided a bona fide attempt has been made to apply for an external Fellowship. The Charity will ask for a copy of the external application as part of the report for the end of the first year. If this external application is not funded, a second year's salary will be paid; but not a third year.
  • The scheme is not open to NIHR Academic Clinical Fellows, as they are already in a pump priming scheme.

APPLICATION FORM - SCHEME A

SCHEME B

  • This scheme is open to medically qualified trainees already registered for a PhD/MD and with one or two years of existing funding (from a nationally competitive award)
  • The Charity would then award money for their second or third year (depending on whether they have one or two years of existing funding), to help these candidates finish their studies/experiments. Funding will not be provided for candidates at the ‘writing-up’ stage.
  • Maximum funding is one year
  • Candidates already supported by The Charity, are not eligible
  • The scheme is open to Clinical Research Training Fellows who had received their external Fellowship award for their PhD/MD while a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow
